The Devon Deer website answers practical questions and connects people with the club. The optional game scoreboard is explained below. We do not build marketing profiles.
No newsletter signup. No contact form. No Google Analytics. No advertising pixels.
Basic hosting information
Netlify may process ordinary technical information needed to deliver and secure the website, such as IP addresses, request timestamps and browser details. Devon Deer does not use this information to build marketing profiles.
External services
Links to Strava, Instagram, Facebook and Google Maps take you to those services. Their privacy practices apply after you follow a link.
Devon Deer Quest
The river arcade runs in your browser. If you choose “Remember my journal on this device,” it saves your discovered keepsakes, best point total and number of finished outings using local browser storage. This journal stays on your device. Turn the option off or use “Forget saved journal” to remove it. Clearing site data also removes it. This does not remove a score you chose to publish.
A shared dawn link contains a game seed so another person can play the same pattern. If you choose to share a result, the text also includes the play style, point total and keepsake count. Nothing is posted automatically. The separate GPS tour stores no progress.
Optional shared scores
Starting an arcade run requests an anonymous, two-hour scoring ticket. Only if you finish, enter three-letter initials or an alias, and choose to publish does the game send your recorded game inputs for server verification. It does not request a full name, email address or physical location. The server calculates the score; it does not keep the input replay.
The public board shows initials, points, play style and the dawn pattern. Its underlying public score record also includes a random run ID, submission time and keepsake count. Initials are not unique or verified identities. Use an alias you are comfortable showing publicly. Automatic name checks can miss inappropriate entries; contact the club to report one.
Scores are stored with Netlify. Up to 20 per play style remain on the all-dawns board until displaced or removed. The daily board changes with the Atlantic date. Short-lived submission records prevent duplicate posting for the two-hour ticket period; expired records are removed on subsequent writes and by daily maintenance. Hosting security systems may process IP addresses to limit abusive requests. The game does not add IP addresses to score records.
Private removal receipts for your last 10 posts are kept in this tab’s session storage, allowing “Remove my score” to work through a reload. Closing the tab or clearing browser data can remove those receipts. If the control is unavailable, contact the club with the initials and score. No full name is needed. Removing a score clears its public entries and any remaining submission copy. We cannot remove screenshots or copies made by other people.
Pointages partagés, en bref
Le journal reste sur votre appareil. Au début d’une partie, le jeu demande un billet anonyme valable deux heures. À la fin, publier reste facultatif et demande un choix explicite. Vos commandes de jeu et vos trois lettres sont alors envoyées pour vérifier le pointage. Le serveur ne conserve pas la reprise des commandes. Aucun nom complet, courriel ou lieu physique n’est demandé.
Le tableau public contient vos initiales, points, style et aube. Le relevé public comprend aussi un identifiant aléatoire, l’heure d’envoi et le nombre de souvenirs. Netlify conserve les meilleurs pointages jusqu’à leur remplacement ou retrait. Les données temporaires de soumission expirent avec le billet et sont nettoyées lors des écritures suivantes et de l’entretien quotidien. Le service d’hébergement peut utiliser les adresses IP pour limiter les abus; elles ne sont pas ajoutées aux pointages.
« Retirer mon pointage » utilise un reçu privé gardé dans cet onglet après rechargement, pour vos 10 derniers envois. La fermeture de l’onglet peut l’effacer. Si la commande manque, ou pour signaler des initiales inappropriées, contactez le club avec les initiales et le pointage. Les vérifications automatiques ont des limites. Désactiver le journal local ne supprime pas un pointage public.
Sensitive messages and community concerns
Instagram and Facebook direct messages are processed by those platforms and may be accessible to more than one Devon Deer account administrator. They are not a confidential reporting system. Send only the information needed to begin a conversation, do not send intimate images, and read the community standards reporting guidance before sharing a sensitive concern.
Devon Deer cannot promise anonymity or absolute confidentiality. A fair response may require sharing enough detail with the person whose conduct was raised that the person who raised it becomes identifiable, even if their name is withheld. The club will try to limit sharing to people whose involvement is reasonably necessary and explain known privacy limits before requesting more detail when practical.
Photographs and stories
The site uses real club photographs with credits. A recognizable person under 19 is excluded unless permission from their parent or legal guardian is documented and the young person also agrees to the photograph and publication. Private volunteer forms and responses are not used as public website content.
