Before you decide

Here is what a regular road run asks.

Monday and Wednesday currently work best for people who can run most of about 6.5 km. The full outing usually takes 40 to 50 minutes, including two brief regroup stops. There is no target running pace.

The group stays connected.

A fronty leads, a sweeper remains behind the final runner, and two planned regroups bring the herd back together.

You can build up first.

A flexible, evidence-informed guide explains what 6.5 km asks and how to prepare without a pace test.

See the gradual plan

Run-walk takes a quick conversation.

The club cannot promise a separate interval group every week. Message before coming and we will explain the support available that day.

Talk it through

Coffee is a real first step.

You do not have to earn the table with kilometres. Injured, returning or curious people can meet the herd without running. Message first so we can confirm the café plan.

Our mission

Start running. Find your people. Meet the trails.

Devon Deer exists to help more people begin running, find a community they want to return to and experience Fredericton trails for the first time. The first group run becomes less intimidating, and a second one easier to imagine.

Make the first step smaller

Rehearse it or bring someone.

Play a river arcade adventure, scout the real route or send a ready-made invitation. None of these tools collects contact details.

Run it once as a deer.

Four arcade chapters, twelve local keepsakes and a goose with opinions. Or take the quiet GPS tour and find both real regroup stops.

Why 6:15 feels worth it

Fredericton looks different with the herd.

River light, bridge boards, mist, winter breath, familiar faces and the quiet lift of starting the day together.

Where we run

We run on Wolastoqey territory.

We meet beside the Wolastoq, near Sitansisk, on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Wolastoqiyik. Our regular loop follows trails whose Wolastoqey names carry the history of this place.
